Gamespot has a new Need For Speed: Pro Street video which Justin Wiebe (Associate Producer) explains the drag racing in game.

Amen it...looking at it, has gone awesome.
woah. I was hoping for many things in PS including that wheelies and replays. The wheelies are awesome but I havent seen a car to do it in 3rd gear lol. but no replay, sux. But Im happy with the tracks. as long as they have some shortcuts and stuff, like HP2, its good. But NFS always felt like its not a real free roam, you cant reach many places. If they can fix that, I wouldnt be interested in their previously featured free roaming anymore.
I hate this drag is so boring is there something else cos if all the game is about is dragg I 'm not sure I will buy it or recommend it to any 1
amir- i've maintained a wheelie in 3rd in PS., i lost it half way to 4th though.
10698 - Drag racing isnt the only portion of the game.. and i wouldnt assume just because drag looks boring (which i can say isnt at all boring), the game would suck.. this game is better than the previous 4 NFS as well as beating Forza2 Hands down in fun value..
